History
The dream of a Bed & Breakfast started in 1984 by seeing the movie Local Hero, There`s a hotel owner who did his work very friendly and relaxed, and it seemed to me, that is the way how we should be working.
The beautifull location and the eternal holidayfeeling of floating in the river should be give the idee of the ultimate holiday, Toscane, palazzo`s, many colors! a floating palace (drijfpaleis), the idea was born and the work started.
There are no rules for boats like there are for houses, so it`s still possible to build your own fantasy, ofcourse a nightmare for the local civel servants !

Construction of the Quo Vadis II designed by Gert Coldewijn began on Otober 22 2001 at Helldorfer shipyard in Arnhem.
After weeks of welding it went outside on a lorry.

to be baptized with a bottle beer ( champagne was forgotten ) on november 19, 2001.

then a crane lifted the boat into the harbour. historical moment.
She stayed afloat !
Baptised as Quo Vadis II the casco was dragged to his place and lay down along the Quo Vadis I, a small houseboat built in 1937 where we lived on, and the work could start !

I was not impeded by any kwowledge about how to built a boat, and there wasn`t a clear idee how it should look, but we just start working, under inspiring supervision of Norbert Valk, with te wooden skeleton construction, and during the work you learned a lot.

The buildingwork stopt for one and a half year cause relationtroubles, and a lot negotiation with the bank managers ppfff.... but after that the work continued !

And the dream of a bed & breakfast which I had for a long time became possible.
Quo Vadis I moved to Amsterdam

The construction and decoration is still continuing.

It`s still possible to make it better and more colorfull ( or worse like some people thinks )
I `m helped by many friends and acquaintances.

Everybody with their own specific knowledge and ideas and infecting each other with enthusiasm and progress.
Finally, throw away the prudence and make your own surrounding as colorfull as possible !
